Mary L. Thames

mother of Jesus Church

of the apostolic faith

Mother Mary Thames was born in Indianapolis, Indiana to Bishop Rodgers and Mother Florene Archie.  She attended Shortridge High School.  After graduation she was employed at Western Electric of Indianapolis for 13 years.  Mother Thames met a young man by the name of Mingo Thames. They fell deeply in love and were married on June 17, 1967.  They’ve been happily married for 47 blessed years.

After many years of searching for answers she received the Lord as her Savior in May of 1972 at the Fold of Christ where her father Bishop Rodgers Archie was the pastor. Her wondrous union with Bishop Thames has brought forth 3 children.  Anita Knott of Hattiesburg, MS Mingo II and Requel of Madison, Mississippi.  She also has 9 grandchildren, 1 great-granddaughter.

Bishop & Mother Thames and family moved to Mississippi where her husband began working at the Delco Remy plant in Laurel, MS.  Her husband and now Pastor was led by God to start a ministry in their home. In 1985 Jesus Church Ministry of the Apostolic Faith was birthed.  On the newness of this ministry she began to take on the role as First Lady and began to teach the saints by the word of God and with love of God.   “How to Raise Your Children in the Lord” has been one of her strongest teaching platforms blessing not only Jesus Church Ministries but the body of Christ as well.

Through many trying times she has continually blessed the church body and the community with a caring spirit that only comes from God.  She has worked in the Heidelburg School District as an assistant teacher and bus monitor.  Through these positions she has influenced hundreds of young people to make Godly decisions.  She has a direct and loving approach that is always backed by scripture.  Her belief is “If it’s not holy, you don’t need to do it”.

She has a desire that the body of Christ be filled with babies and young people so that God’s work will continue throughout all generations.  And with that desire and her dedication God is continually bringing it to pass.

I will bless the Lord at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth.

My soul shall make her boast in the Lord: the humble shall hear
thereof, and be glad.

O magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt his name together.

- Psalms 34:1-3
